Perennial Basil

This basil grows much like a mint, so plant it somewhere where you will ok for it to run. We’ve planted it in our food forest to help suppress the grasses and attract pollinators. It grows incredibly quickly so will fill a blank space in a season.

Perennial basil will produce throughout winter and while it’s not a true sweet basil flavor it can be used as a great substitute in the cooler months. To me, its more of a minty basil flavor, great in Thai green curries.

If you have the space (or a pot) this is a must in a bee friendly permaculture garden.
